Max ~ Super Striking Boy – 2yo Black Greyhound

MAX

**UPDATED: JULY 2013**

Location: Kennels in Norfolk, UK. Max would love a foster home while he waits for his forever family.
Key Points: Lovely friendly boy, balanced, curious, happy-go-lucky, goofy & playful, dog savvy, loves all people, ok on lead, quick learner, not yet in a home.

Meet Max! He is a 2 year old greyhound boy who was taken out of the racing world before he really got into it. Max is a really striking dog, and is only going to get more handsome once his currently thick, dull kennel coat comes out and is replaced with a super sleek, glossy black. He has a bright, intelligent expression and carries himself very well, as you can see!

~ Personality ~
Generally: Very friendly, loves people, squishy, approachable, happy-go-lucky, goofy, playful, attentive, quick learner.
Max has a very beautiful personality to match his handsome appearance. He really is a great big softie who loves people and dogs alike. He is always ready to dole out some kisses, and adores getting squishy cuddles from his humans. Max is still a young boy at heart and is playful and just a little bit goofy. He is also attentive to people, especially if you have tasty treats. He is intelligent and engaging.

This boy is going to be an excellent all-rounder and family pet. He would be a great starting-hound for a first time greyhound owner, as he has no real issues to speak of and is pretty much a blank canvas for whomever takes him on.

~ In the Home ~
Generally: Not yet in a home.
Max has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience. We don’t think it will take this boy very long to adjust to the home life, and we know he’ll never look back once he does. Max has oodles of potential to be a happy family dog, and we can't wait to see him in a home.

~ Other Animals ~
Generally: Social boy, friendly, good dog skills, enjoys canine company, not cat safe.
Max is very good with the other greyhounds in our kennels so far, and really enjoys his offlead fun in the paddock. He is a social boy and very much enjoys the company of other dogs, especially to play with and learn from. If Max is to be an only dog, his new owner would need to make sure he has lots of canine friends so he can fulfil his weekly dog quota. Max is not cat friendly.

~ Out and About ~
Generally: Attentive, curious, social, suitable to be offlead after recall work, walks ok after initial excitement.
Max is a fab boy, very biddable, who just needs to be given direction to follow it. He can pull on the lead at first when he’s very excited for his ‘walkies’ time, but soon calms down. Everything is new to him and he wants to see and sniff all the roses at once! He is just moderately active and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and a chance to stretch his legs couple of times a week. With a lot of work on bonding and recall (he currently has none) Max may be suitable to be let offlead in safe areas away from public roads and livestock. Like most greyhounds,

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are very calm, mannerly dogs that are used to being handled. They can fit into a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly.

~ Where Am I? ~
Max is currently in kennels in Norfolk. He can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a homechecker available, but please note that you may be required to travel to our rescue to meet and collect him.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Max is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This dear boy would benefit so very much from a chance to live in a foster home and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always eager for new foster volunteers. It is an extremely rewarding experience and costs are covered by us.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Max, you can contact me (Tam) via email: tam@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk, or speak directly to Bronwen by phoning: 075 000 62648. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs.

There are application forms for both adopting and fostering Max, and we will ask you to fill the relevant one in as the first step in the adoption/fostering process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the forms, as well as further information on our homing & fostering procedures, on either the Adoption Page or Fostering Page .

Thank you.

~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a voluntary organisation based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spread over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK. If interested in one of our hounds, please feel free to contact us.

**UPDATED: 14TH DECEMBER 2013**

Location: Kennels in Norfolk, UK. Max would dearly love a foster home while he waits for his forever family, this boy is wasted in kennels.
Key Points: Lovely friendly boy, balanced, curious, happy-go-lucky, goofy & playful, confident, dog savvy, loves all people, good first hound, ok on lead, quick learner, not yet in a home.

Meet Max! He is a 2 year old greyhound boy who was taken out of the racing world before he really got into it. Max is a really REALLY striking dog and looks ready for the ballroom floor with his beautiful black tuxedo coat. His bright, intelligent expression and carries himself very well, as you can see! Max is a tall, regal boy at 30” to the shoulder. He is a head-turner for sure!

~ Personality ~
Generally: Very friendly, loves people, squishy, approachable, happy-go-lucky, goofy, playful, confident, attentive, quick learner.
Max has a very, very beautiful personality to match his handsome appearance. He is charismatic, intelligent and engaging, making him a firm favourite with the kennel staff. He really is a great big softie who loves people and dogs alike. We would love nothing more than to see this gorgeous dog move to a home environment so that he can finally get the love and fuss that he craves.

Max truly has unlimited potential and is one of those ready-made perfect pooches. He is always ready to dole out some kisses, and adores getting squishy cuddles from his humans. Max is still a young boy at heart and is playful and just a little bit goofy. He is also attentive to people, especially if you have tasty treats. This boy is going to be an excellent all-rounder and family pet. He would be a great starter for a first time greyhound owner, as he has no real issues to speak of and is pretty much a blank canvas for whomever takes him on. People are really missing out on having this Max-hound in their lives.

Generally: Not yet in a home, clean in kennel.

If Max is to be an only dog, his new owner would need to make sure he has lots of canine friends so he can fulfil his weekly dog quota. Max has come along to our annual hound walk and behaved impeccably with all the other dogs – the muzzle is just a precaution and was not necessary. Max is not cat friendly.

Meet Max! He is a 4 year old greyhound boy. Max is a really striking dog, and is absolutely stunning now that his thick, dull kennel coat has been replaced with a super sleek, glossy black one. He has a bright, intelligent expression and carries himself very well, as you can see!

Location: Foster home in Norfolk.
Key Points: SERIOUSLY handsome, lovely friendly boy, balanced, curious, happy-go-lucky, goofy and playful, dog savvy, loves all people, OK on lead, quick learner. On going training will benefit this stunning lad.

Generally: Bubbly and bouncy.very friendly, loves people, approachable, happy-go-lucky, goofy, playful, attentive, quick learner.

He is always ready to dole out some kisses, and adores getting squishy cuddles from his humans. Max is still a young boy at heart and is playful and just a little bit goofy. He is also attentive to people, especially if you have tasty treats. He is both intelligent and engaging but can be over-exuberant when meeting new people so will benefit from further/ongoing training and also simply because he is sooooo clever!

This boy is going to be an excellent all-rounder and family pet. He would be a great starting-hound for a first time greyhound owner, as he has no real issues to speak of and is pretty much a blank canvas for whomever takes him on.

~ In the Home ~
Max has been in a foster home since December and is doing really, really well. He can be left for short periods of time but will occasionally chew anything that seems interesting if you leave it within reach! He is totally house trained and will lay down when told if not too excited when you ask. He has oodles of potential to be a happy family dog and is just looking for that perfect home!
