Hunched back, tail tucked under, head down

Might be a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question but just interested to know anyones thoughts as to why might see a dog like this and in what circumstance situation.
Many thanks

''Hunched back, tail tucked under, head down''

..depending on when this behaviour is displayed and to whom (and taking account of other body language) it often means ..
..trying to make oneself look small and no threat.
..fearful , uncertain how to behave or what is expected..
..pain or discomfort

Agree with the above posts - you need to look at the context really...

Very true, Katie was like that earlier - feeling sick & in pain & just as i was about to serve dinner ... Well leave it to your immagination unfortunately the sickness is part of her condition & probably upset after being at the vets yesterday to get bloods taken

That description fits my dog when she was suffering from a slipped disc and in severe pain.

She has recovered now.
