Bulgarian Dogs Needing Rehoming
As some of you know I'm heavily involved in helping the street dogs of Bulgaria - a poor country with a huge stray dog population here where cruelty and poisonings are a routine part of daily life.
I work closely with the Bulgarian Society for Animal Protection and Preservation (BSAPP.org) and our shelter has reached crisis point as dogs in need just keep being brought in yet there are very few forever homes available due to pets not yet being popular here.
Our shelter's mission is primarily aimed at neutering and returning (TNR) as well as caring for the very young and old/sick. However, once the dogs are in our care for a certain period of time, it is no longer appropriate to return them to the street, and this is where we have hit crisis point, as we have run out of space and funds are limited.
We are therefore looking at all options for rehoming, and have been looking for shelters in Scandinavia or Germany which apparently do not have such stray dog problems yet we keep drawing a blank.
So, does anyone know of any shelters in Europe who may be able to help us? Any and all leads will be gratefully appreciated!
Many thanks
