Back from 2009 - but determined to post this time!

Hello - I did join in 2009 but never did post before! Was a bit shy but have gained more confidence since ...

I think I need some help from you all now that I am looking after a Siberian Husky as well as our Labrador. I am told she cannot be let off the lead as she will run away. It is such a shame as she has to watch our Labrador running ahead free and she gets very frustrated when he is allowed to greet other dogs and she can't.

I have read the piece on Dogsey about the breed, which is very informative, but I note in one of the threads that some husky owners dispute this - they say that Siberian Huskies can be trained to come back when called. I am reluctant to take the chance!! What do you all think please?

Hello and welcome to the forum. You might get quicker responses to your question if you post it in one of the other forums and not just this introduce yourself one.

Maybe General Breeds? Or Training & Behaviour?

hi
..... do not let her off lead, only do so in enclosed 'safe' places if u wish to do so (tennis courts etc).. but,it doesnt mean she cant interact with dogs... me thinks u need to learn how to work a 'lunge line'

Hi. If she isn't your dog, I wouldn't take the risk of letting her off lead anyway if the owners have specified not to.
