Japanese Tosa pups. Surely not?

Just seen somebody advertising Japanese Tosa pups on a local website. I don't know anything about these dogs but am I right in thinking they are illegal?

I'm not 100% certain, but I thought they were a "banned breed" too.

If a tosa licked the face of your local bobby and when he asked what breed it was was told a bloodhound cross i bet he would not flinch ..
A long legged staff would be bundled off to doggy prison if it did the same ..

it is a shame that people still feel the need to breed these banned dogs when more often than not, the dogs (if owned by the correct people) can be loving and affectionant, a friend of mine works in a pre-destroy quarintine kennels and they have a tosa at the kennels as a gaurd dog, it just tries to lick you to death if you are introduced to it, if you sneak up on it or try and break in tho its is another matter
