My Sunday aft project-a 100% natural dog bed..

I used to be so industrious- sewing, knitting, spinning wool- u name it; lots of ideas....Ive stockpiled fabric, yarn, fleece for YEARS but not tackled any projects for years either- Lazy so I thought why not make a 100% natural dog bed for Minnie. Washed a big bag of carded fleece, found some wool muslin and linen uppholstery thread. Couldnt think of anything to cover it with other than cutting up a cotton flanellette sheet so I popped in to TK Maxx this morning -and found a Bamboo fleece blanket for £12.00- soft as cashmere, all natural...... Ive just handstitched the bed together-basically stuffed a muslin bag with fleece in layers and stitched it down at 8 in intervals so it doesnt move. Then - for now- just wrapped the Bamboo blanket around it. BINGO A totally natural-no synthetic dog bed It doesnt bounce back like the foam ones, doesnt flatten like down. Will post some pics later.Minnie is laying on it just now with her chew

Im happy with it- also I can take it apart easily as its hand-stitched and re-shape it or make it thinner .Think Ill tackle a wool fleece duvet for her next....Im on a roll

Cath

Lucky old Minnie having you to do that for her.
I wouldn't bother with my two, they'd suss I'd made it and convince themselves it must be one of Mummy's games and that I've hidden something in it for them to find.

In other words they'd nibble it to pieces!

Can't wait to see pics of Minnie lounging on her new bed

It is something Id only do for fun- using up materials Ive had in the house for years The bed is quite flimsy- hand -stitched and using muslin so most dogs would shred it in seconds.....Luckily my JR isnt destructive so things last forever
