Hole in cheek. Should I worry?

Archie had a fight with Ziggy earlier and as a reslut of this has an almost-pierced cheek. The hole is on the inside, it hasn't gone right through but it's pretty deep.

I have the impression that mouth injuries heal quickly on their own. Is this true? Shall I just leave it alone? It's obviously quite painful and he doesnt want me to go near it (he will let me look at it reluctantly but pulls away.)

I don't think there is a great deal that can be done If it is bleeding or ragged then it may need a stitch. Your vet may also advise the application of an antiseptic wash.

Probably best to keep him on soft foods for a few days.

Poor Archie Hope it heals quickly and do see your vet if you are worried.

If hes acting really painful then it could be infected, I would have the vet check him out.

Ah - the resilience of youth

I would still avoid any sort of 'spikey' type bones or chews for a day or two. Don't want to chance opening it up again.
