Apart from running the risk of shoulder dislocation, I don't have any problems with it, my lot know it's a game and stop when told to. They have excellent " Give" and "Leave it" commands.

Spencer's tug mad and me and hubby enjoy playing it with him. He lets go of things on command so I see no problem with it. I just wish he'd learn that you cannot play tug with a tissue

My boys don't really play tug with each other, only with me. I don't mind if they instigate it (i.e. bring me a toy), but, as above, they stop when told to. A good leave/give command is essential. I usually just say "thank you" and they stop....

I think its great, I wish my dogs were more into it
Its also the quickest way I have learnt to teach a dog to 'give'
I really so no cons in it at all just so long as you have some rules - and dont do sleve tuggy

I went to a Working Trials Club and that`s how the trainer taught the Give. It stops the dog spitting it at you or racing off with the article. Because they get a lot of fun from the tuggy game? So they come to you for a game with the article.
Of course you have to also teach Give so you can stop the game.
As long as you do both I don`t see the problem.

ok ,how about an aggresive dog, any thoughts? ,taking away the tug game, for me, has improved some dogs ,on the way they interact with humans and other dogs. along with other traing iv found it to be usefull to get rid of it.

just improving the dogs training in general should sort out most problems without removing the 'game'

Rosie has played tug from day one. It's a great self-control game.
