Staffie advice.

Hi, I've just rescued 2 older staffie dogs from being pts.
I've been told one is dog aggressive but he seems submissive and timid with humans and gets on well with the other staffie ( brothers).
I am hoping they will interstate with my other dogs ( 10) but if not I do have other options.
I have heard it said Staffies are unsociable, they don't get on with other dog breeds- how true is this or are they just like any other dog.
Any advice welcome.

Like any breed they all have their own personalities and quirks. My Staffie has always got on with other breeds, he's lived with Dobermanns, Pugs and a terrier, so he's not anti social.

I haven't found them to be antisocial....just like people, all dogs won't get on, I am on staffie / staffie x number 4 and only ever had one who had issues with other dogs but he was attacked a few times in quick succession and he was never the same....before that, he was a lovely friendly chap. Well done for stepping in and helping out, hopefully introductions will go well

Thanks for the replies.
The boys arrived on Sunday and things seem ok. I'm separating them while i'm at work in the afternoon, (2 hour shift at the local vet) but otherwise they are together all the time. Still being careful as they have joined a pack of 10, which is quite intimidating for them. One is bubbly and bouncy the other is a bit more timid but coming out of his shell now.

Meet Noddy.

Noddy and Waldo relaxing.

As you can see, it looks like they have skin issues. They are now on a salmon and potato diet as a first step to see if that helps. We will see how they go with that and if no improvement look at other options.

Fab dogs!! My experience of staffies is that they're friendly in general if socialised ... like most dogs really. If they have skin issues I would not oersonally not feed high carb food like potatoes. Salmon oik in particular is good but try cooked green veg . Or best of all raw pureed mix veg ... hth x

Thank you, we found out today, after more tests that Waldo has Zcushings disease. We will be starting his medication tomorrow when we can collect them. Hopefully this will help with the hair loss, as well as the excessive appetite, urination
and drinking.

I have a staffie mix and I bring him to work everyday. Thanos gets along with all kinds of dogs and cats. The only thing he is afraid of is large men.

Thank you.
The boys are doing well, living with the others, Nobby can be a bit excitable and wants to play rough, but thankfully the resident dogs just ignore him. They are very good in the house, and both have a knee each as I sit on the sofa writing this, and Waldo has Corrie the collie resting his head on him.
I think it may be more of an issue when new dogs come, but so far so good.
