Our house chimney

A couple of weeks ago we had a cowl put on our house chimney to stop the rain going down it. This cowl is stainless steel with a brown paint job .

Great me thinks until this evening when I heard a strange tapping noise coming down the chimney.

Wondering what it was I go outside and look up. Believe it or not there was this seagull practising doing River Dance on the top of the metal cowl.

It would have sounded better if it had get the steps right

At least it was auditioning for Strictly Come Dancing on the top of the cowl and not down the chimney .

When we moved in here, we had a full length car port. We sectioned it off so that the front is the garage and the back is the porch. We fully enclosed both with wood cladding. Every year the starlings make a nest between the paneling in the porch. Boy, do they make a racket

I hear seagulls down where our chimney is positioned over a defunct boiler shaft. Did make me chuckle reading that Tumbleweed and Chris I love starlings.

Gnasher I find it is the pigeons that are a pain. They fill the bird table with their bulk. I wonder sometimes if these plastic owls that people put up on the roof works. Can't see me putting Tyto up there though even though his name is Eagle Owl. bg!!
