ITV1 is to air a heart-warming hour-long special over the Christmas period, featuring some of Britain’s most talented four-legged friends.
That Dog Can Dance! will see five talented dogs and their owners vying for the title of ‘Best in Show’ to win a top prize in the canine world - the chance to perform at Crufts, the world’s greatest dog show, in 2013. The lucky winners will also win a life-time supply of dog food and a canine pampering holiday.
Christine Bleakley will host proceedings with Ashleigh and Pudsey – who triumphed in Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year in front of 14.5million people - the inimitable Sharon Osbourne with her furry friends, Bella and Rocky, and comedian Bill Bailey with his ‘man’s best friend’, Teddi, giving their verdicts on their favourite performing pooch before the final winner is decided by the live studio audience.
Ashleigh and Pudsey – fresh from their show-stealing performance at The Royal Variety Performance - will also be on hand with a very special show for the viewing public.
Nigel Hall, Global Head Of Television, Syco, said: “We all fell in love with Ashleigh and Pudsey on Britain’s Got Talent – and there are more dancing dogs out there that we can’t wait to show the audience. From a pair of Jack Russells’ who think they are Fred and Ginger to a deaf dog called Henry who’s convinced he’s more cha-cha than Chihuahua, this show will further prove we are a nation of dog lovers.”
Richard Holloway, Managing Director, Thames said: “We’re delighted to be working with our very own Britain’s Got Talent winners again as well as Sharon, Bill and Christine for this one off Christmas extravaganza… all under the watchful, and discerning eye of Pudsey of course!”
Kate Maddigan, Commissioner, Entertainment ITV1, said: “We’re delighted that ITV will welcome That Dog Can Dance! to it’s Christmas schedule and hope that our viewers will join in the fun as the UK’s most talented dogs take centre stage.”
That Dog Can Dance! was commissioned by Kate Maddigan for ITV 1 and is a co-production between Syco and Thames. The show will be Executive Produced by Nigel Hall, Richard Holloway and Meriel Beale.
