Would you change the name?

Think I posted about the possibility of this before - but yep, it's happened.

Obnoxious cousin from hell has (and she was advised of the bonkers greyhound owner of the name well in advance) decided to name her new baby the same as bonkers hound.

Wouldn't be a problem them sharing a name - but I KNOW she's going to chuck theatrics about the indignity of a family pet "stealing" her name (despite having it for 8 years) and I'm going to be (as normal) the big batch witch of the family if I don't just give in to her. I'm incredibly inclined to stand my ground on this - but I know if my mum gets involved and I don't give into her pressure - it'll be a grudge capable of being held for at least a decade - I've actually been very upset about it all day because I know it's bound to happen and it hurts like hell that my own parents won't back me on it (I know how they'll give into her - they always do - hell she gets invited to family events that I get left out of).

So - would you change the name?

Let me get this straight. The "Obnoxious cousin from hell" is expecting you to change the name of your greyhound so that she can use the name for her new baby?

Excuse me while I have quiet hysterics!

Umm, why not suggest she calls her baby Fido?

If I were you, I wouldn't change it. Your Greyhound had the name before your cousin named her baby. If she wants to name her child after your dog, that's up to her.

To answer your question......NO' I would not change my dogs name, because someone decides t o call their baby by the same name.

Stand firm, and tell whoever , that's its not debatable .

Stand firm do not allow them to guilt you, the name is yours, you have had it a long time.

Would they ask the same if it were your childs name ?

No I wouldn't even think about it and anyone who suggested I should would be told they were mental. How little imagination does your cousin have if she can't come up with an alternative name?
