Pereg rushed out to greet Ram with tiny barks when he came to give her her second puppy shots - she was about 10 weeks old at the time! He then made the comment that she would make a terrific guard dog!

Indeed yes. Most folk never see our dogs but they hear them and stay clear. One plumber once refused to come in unless they were in a closed room, " In case I get et."

When I went to choose Amy aged 6 weeks old she came running dragging a small leek plant from the garden which she dropped in order to bark at me .

It is completely normal. I've had my dog for seven years and he never barks! I do like hearing his voice so I try to instigate him to bark and he tries but sometimes he just sneezes instead. The good part of him not barking is that he doesn't bark for food, or when the doorbell rings and you don't have to train him to not bark.

Is she the Lab in your avatar picture? by nature they tend to be a very quiet breed so yes, not barking is completely normal.

My current Lab and my previous Labs rarely ever barked. In fact, the first few times Dexter barked he actually made himself jump!

As others have said, thank your lucky stars. I have two other dogs that bark at everything and I know which one I would prefer.
