Wanted temp Foster Home for GSD

Hi,
I recently rehomed a large, friendly, black, 4 year old, German Shepherd Dog. I am training him and he is doing well.
Unexpectedly, I have to go abroad next month for a few weeks work.
I would like to introduce him now to somebody who would like to have him as a temporary guest whilst I am away.

We live on the Essexxx/Suffolk borders.

Brendan

Have you looked into home pet sitters? With a good organisation they will be police vetted, insured and have experience.

I'd jump at it, but I probably wouldn't want to hand him back in a few week's time, especially as my 9 month old puppy would probably get very attached to him, the old boy doesn't care who comes here or who goes, but much as I'd like to offer you a lovely foster home for a short period, I honestly don't think I could do the handing back bit! So sorry, you need a proper fosterer or similar, coz anyone else (i.e. a normal pet home like us) would never be able to part with him I'm sure. All the best, I hope you find somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I cannot afford that solution.

Ok. I know some dog shelters offer temporary foster homes. I know our local one does for people who are going into hospital etc and can't afford kennels or home sitters.

Might be worth ringing round a few local to you maybe?

ETA: I see you boy is a rehome, maybe the shelter he came from could offer advice or help.

Eeek, asking me to explain anything technical is a recipe for disaster!
I think if you go into the User CP bit (top left hand side)there's a link there for the avatar. You might need photobucket or some such thing.

Sorry, bit useless really!

Ps, Welcome to Dogsey.

ETA: scratch that, I see you've worked it out......he looks beautiful!

I think in your situation I would approach a GSD rescue and explain the situation. Their fosterers will be experienced, home-checked and insured etc. Maybe contact the online GSD site? I don`t know if I can put a link but if you google them, it`s the big gsd one. They have links to fosterers etc.
