Is a pink nose normal in a puppy?

Hi all,

I am new to Dogsey as I thought this would be the best place to get help and advice.

I have reserved a tri coloured English Setter puppy and have only seen him through pics at the moment. He has pink 'splodges' on his nose but the rest of the litter have black/brown noses. The breeder assures me the pink will darken but I have concerns. Do you think it will turn black or brown or will it stay pink?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

If it doesn't darken you will have to be careful in strong sun. (If you ever get any again in the UK)

Hello and welcome!

I have no experience with setters, but my Ripley used to have a big pink splodge on her nose. It gradually got darker and is now completely black
Heres some before and after pics lol

Taz took ages for his nose to fill in, he was at least 6 months before the last bit went.

With cocker spaniels, if they are any version of & white, their noses stay pink longer than if orange/blue roan/solid

My black staffie had a cute link stripe down the middle of her nose as a tiny pup, but now it's all black. I have a feeling it had darkened by the time we collected her from the breeders.

Oh I just love all these pictures!! Sorry, a bit off topic - I was just going to say that if the pink bit remains pink then you might have to be careful in hot sun - a bit of barrier cream might be useful to stop any burning.
