Your walks sound lovely and I'm with you on the 'you can add layers in the winter but can only remove so many in the summer' I love a cold, crisp, sunny day way above the hot day

A hi-viz jacket of some sort would I think be advantageous - it also means your lab can be seen by you easily with a torch. One of my dogs is mainly black and he melts into the dark

I look forward to seeing your photos

If she has a proper Labrador coat then no, she doesn't need any kind of coat. They are true cold weather specialists and their double, oily coat is designed to keep them warm.

Mine breaks the ice to swim when it is freezing.

thanks, might just get her a Hi-Viz vest rather than a fleecy thing.

Good point about the rivers but thankfully I'm on a hill so no risk on my day to day walks. She does love jumping into water though so I'll be mindful of that if we take her anywhere where there is likely to be frozen water over the winter.
Your might wish you never said that Nic... this winter is meant to be the coldest for 100 years

Give me our hot summers any day of the week
