Puppy eating habits

Can anyone tell me if this is normal or reassure me?

Kibo is 14 weeks now and generally eats well. I feed him skinners kibble with a small amount of chicken mince or after reading the tinned fish thread he may get a little sardines instead of chicken.

Somedays he hoovers up the whole bowl and other days , like today, he's a bit disinterested and may only eat about half. Otherwise, he's fit, well and like most puppies i.e. gets the crazy zoomies every night

Just really wanted to check in that it's not abnormal for him to be like this?

It is normal. My youngest two dogs went through phases of only eating half a meal at times when they were pups. They grew out of it fairly quickly though.

Could you be giving him too much? I never feed as much as the instructions on the bag. If that's not the case, well perhaps he's just not a 'foody'! My 13 week old pup shovels his food down in the hope that he can pinch someone else's!

That could be the case indeed. I do tend to measure more by the eye than the scales. Mind you, he never walks away from a piece of liver cake ( the greatest training aid on the planet, IMO ), so all is well.

I'm not too stressed about it, I have my off days with food too, so why shouldn't a dog I guess?

Gemma when she got to about 5 months changed from a oozy pup who would shovel food in at such a speed even Simba couldn't keep up, to then not really being interested in food and even walking away from half her meal.

She has severely slowed her eating pace down now, but since switching to raw she hasn't left any food

How many meals are you feeding?

If you are feeding 4, pup may be ready to drop down to three meals a day.

He's on 3, and has been for a while now.
