Female Sterilisation?? Anyone had it done?

Question for you ladies.

Have any of you had your tubes clipped?? I have to have mine done for medical reasons and I've heard good stories and bad stories about the op itself, and life after sterilisation.

Your advice, comments etc would be appreciated

yeah, had mine done about 18 years ago, it was a doddle, in one day, out the next. not much pain except for sore shoulders as they pump you up with gas and it rises, still that was a long time ago, might be a different procedure now, but all was fine.

Yep I had mine done at the same time as my c-section with our son just over 10 years ago, so wasn't pumped full of gas thank goodness.....lol.

Never had any problems at all, infact after both ops, I was home within 2 days. Life is no different after sterilisation for me.

I've had 2 laparoscopies before and both were a nightmare. Suffer really bad from adhesions and it makes it difficult for them to "get in" if you know what I mean. The doc say I would probably need a laparotomy (bigger op).

My OH's mum had said about periods etc being heavy and painful after her sterilisation so I just wondered if anyone else had suffered.

My Mum was sterilised about 4 days after giving birth to me (23 years ago).
She was put under general to have it done!
Periods were never painful or heavy afterwards though!

i was done 11 years ago when i had my c section with my daughter
my periods have been awful ever since.heavy and painful
but it needed doing so i cope with it once a month

I haven't been sterilised but still get heavy painful periods most of the time - just put it down to my age

I also had that gas pumped into me when I had my ovary out 15 years ago and it was really painful - that was the worst part of the operation for me

nope i haven i made o/h get the snip instead after all i gave birth and it didn hurt me a bit

Unfortunately I have to get it done for health reasons or I'd get the bricks out and do him

Well you could still get the bricks out Minky - why spoil the fun?

I am sure Rob would let you practise on him just to make sure you get it right
