Yes sometimes I'm quite glad that we don't get any signal inside the house. Some firms send me text messages and then wonder why I don't reply

I'm with you.
I'm retired and have been for a few years now. I carried a business phone since before they were remotely popular. Calls all hours of the day - we, the company, had 24/7 call-out contracts with major customers. On retirement, I was pleased to give that responsibility/pressure up.

I have a dog. I walk a lot in parks and off-street places. Some with little or no lighting. My dear wife was concerned that I could get mugged. Touching but I declined.

The only thing of value that went with me was was that dog. My argument was that a mugger would pick a softer target. But she got me one anyway. If/when I remember to take it, that's something a mugger to nick.

well, i am hoping mum and dad have left Boston, the last thing she said to me was she would call me when they got to the airport.....i have heard nothing and the flight has left with only 25 minutes left until they get to buffalo
i take my phone everywhere and it is very rarely off, if my mates are in bother during the night they know my phone is on...when my mate had just had her babies she was whatsapping me all night..i thought that was lovely as i felt like i was there. I do suspect that Steve wanted me up early so he could come and fetch his stuff...i did say i had put it in the porch and he could just help himself, i am pretty good, i set an alarm when he is at work to send him a good morning message before he switches his phone on...he however doesn't need to return the favour Lol

Lol Kazz, love that man to bits, he is too stupid to realise what he had/could have so i try to do my best by him...not easy and i have days where i want to murder him and would quite happily do so. My current issue with him is his nvq, finally work have asked him to do it, he doesn't want to, i say he should and have offered to help...i even told my dad i was going to help him...how i still have a roof over my head i do not know....he had agreed to do it but now he is saying no...i am guessing it is because i have told him he should....i think he has finally understood that after 2 years unless i peg out i am not going anywhere

Great that they are now well on their way and hopefully enjoying well earned holiday.

On the subject of car hire firms, could write a book I don't think I have ever hired a car with no problems. At Stansted I hired a car, they had a little porta-cabin on the far side of the public car park where you got a little minibus to the office in town.

I was literally about 50 metres from the porta-cabin when their minibus moved off heading straight towards me, I jumped out waving my arms and shouting, the driver went straight past me, didn't look at me or slow down, never mind stop and save me a half hour wait 'till he came back

Also if (heaven forbid) you were targeted you would likely not have time to use the phone.

An 83 year old man was walking his two dogs in Thetford forrest. A nutter came up behind him and stabbed him in the neck several times killing him.

Trial finished last week, he claimed a voice in his head told him to kill someone and he disliked dog walkers.

Sentanced to 28 years.

Hi folks - came back from Wales on monday last following a nice if snowy break. Yesterday was a funeral for yet another friend from the local rugby club. I think that I am now the last remaining member from a team that played in the 1964\65 season at the club, which I proudly recall swept all before it!
I am not much given to public displays of emotion but will admit that as we sang the last verse of the final hymn I felt a large solitary tear slide down my cheek, the Mem clutched my arm even tighter and gently dabbed it away with her handkerchief, she's a girl in a million. I am a very lucky man.
Lynn - our prayers and best wishes for you and your family after the loss of your sister, her suffering is now at an end after so many years of struggle.
Pleased to read that Mrs Harvey is managing to get about a bit following her bout of the 'orrid lurgy. I hope she continues to improve steadily.
Ref that nutter who stabbed the 83 yr old dog walker, Harvey, for my money they should hang the likes of him. If they can't afford a hangman I'd do it - pay my own expenses too! Can't say fairer than that!
Griff - glad you got your folks away (even if it was sans sunglasses) hope they have a lovely time. Please don't overdo the decorating - can't you get that Steve up a ladder - give you a bit of a lift.
The Mem and I have decided that when Danger Curls is next in season she will be allowed an assignation - one of my rugby assosciates has a very good working bedlington dog which has an excellent temperament and very robust constitution. Seems like the ideal daddy for DC. we will of course keep a bitch pup and we have been asked endless numbers of times if she is going to have pups. So watch this space for photos of beautiful curly babies! Sometime later in summer.
Off to bed for me and the dogs now, take care all, bye fer now.

Dreadful. And the phone.........not a great deal of use in such circumstances....
