The closed season is from 15th March to the 15th June (both dates inclusive) for coarse fishing. Not sure about other dates for fly fishing etc.
Coarse fish close season - 15 March to 15 June inclusive

The coarse fish close season applies to all rivers, streams and drains in England & Wales, but does not apply to most stillwaters.

There are, however, some exceptions that retain the close season - the Broads and some Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs); these sites are listed in the Schedules attached to the byelaws, which you can obtain from your local Environment Agency office (tel 0845 9333111).

Recent byelaw changes mean that the coarse fish close season does not apply to most canals in England and Wales; again there are some exceptions, mainly SSSIs and these are also listed in the Schedules.

Where the statutory coarse fish close season has been removed, fishery owners and angling clubs are free to introduce a close season through club or fishery rules if they wish to.

Pleased to see everyone is enjoying this weather. You sound a lot happier Lynn.

Had a drive to b &. Q etc but bought nothing cooked lunch now having another coffee. Have also put some sweet peas into pots to get them going. Garden, being heavy clay, is too wet to do much with it yet.

Well I never got back yesterday, I got rather tied up with Celia. She rang me and asked me to go in because she felt unwell. I settled her and then went back again in the afternoon. She assured me she had a drink and put sugar in it (she's diabetic and hadn't eaten)
This morning I got her paper and she seemed much better. Brian took her in a chicken dinner when we had our lunch so hopefully she is better now.
Sounds as if you have all been busy too, sewing, bread baking and poacher catching! It certainly isnt anything like spring here, quite cold.

Practically all year round then if you are a fisherman! What is it you can get from ebay, can't work that one out. Keshi was, yet again, a little star, even a couple of dogs making a break for freedom didn't move her this week, mind you it ends badly for her when she joins in, so maybe she's decided best not to Paula (Warro on here), puppy class instructor, has got THE most adorable, sweet little GSD puppy, what a beautiful little face, and her ears are just going up and she looks so cute you could eat her. Keshi quite taken with her and wanted to play and regressed rapidly to being a few months old herself Very big class as Silver and Gold were taken together, and we did a lot of socialisation stuff, apart from a few play bows here and there, didn't put a paw out of place. Nippy, hope Celia is OK, could she maybe sip flat Coke or Lucozade, which is what youngest son used to do if he was off colour and didn't want to eat, another quick fix is tinned fruit, but not too often because the blood sugar goes up too quick
