Dexter, male Parson Jack Russell Terrier, DOB 22.04.07 – Rochester, Kent

Dexter, Parson Jack Russell Terrier, DOB 22.04.07 – Rochester, Kent

Homing Requirements: Dexter wants a family who 'gets' and will positively enjoys his terrier antics. His current family are hesitant about Terriers. Dexter needs a terrier proof garden with 6' panel fencing and exit management. Dexter could manage visiting children but with supervision; best to live with aware dog savvy older children. Dexter can react to cars passing nearby especially in wet weather when he notices them more.

His Story: Dexter has grown up within his family and coped well with the first baby who is now 2 years old. However, he is finding subtle life style changes demanding as the toddler becomes more mobile. With another child on the way his family have acknowledged that Dexter isn't sensitive enough to be around really young children and he needs a family who can cater better for his needs. Dexter is neutered, chipped and vax'd. Dexter is still with his family who are supporting him whilst Terrierrescue finds him his new family. Currently in Rochester, Kent.

Advert: Dexter manages quite well around children if supervised carefully but is best not to live with very young children as he can nip, snap the air and grumble when pushed … Terrier character! He has always been an only pet and has had very little interaction with other dogs. Dexter is generally walked on a short lead and rarely an extender. Dexter enjoys longer walks at weekends. Dexter loves to be part of the action but is usually put away when unknown visitors arrive. He is freely mixed with known visitors. He loves the car and is harnessed in the boot.

Dexter is a 6 year old long haired Parson's Jack Russell Terrier who needs regular grooming and care. He likes to be on the furniture and may protest when told to get off. He has a crate as his bed area but sleeps in his owner’s bedroom under their bed on a cushion. Dexter is an integral part of his family but not 'a natural' to live with young children. He would love a family where he can soften boundaries, let his fur down a little and not inadvertently be a risk to vulnerable little 'peeps'.

The heavens opened on Saturday whilst we were doing the photo shoot at the kennels. Dexter was pretty wet by the time we took his pics in the cloakroom! He enjoyed some liver and sausages and let me towel dry him as best we could. A real sweetie ... if a little bedraggled!
