Human meds for dogs?? Thoughts please

Hi guys, this is my first time on here and I'm hoping for some advice. Would you use human creams on your dog ? My pugalier, toby, seems to have been bitten by ants on our farm, and I'm thinking of using sudocrem or something similar to relieve his discomfort. Any thoughts or other options??

Have you got any Piriton? It might help with the stinging. My dog is on it on vet's advice for an allergy. I assume you can get Piriton?

A lot of dog owners use Sudocrem on their dogs without any detrimental effects. Common sense dictates to ensure that he doesn't lick it off

I agree with the anti-histamine recommendation - if you can't get piriton, give your vet a ring to check what alternatives you may be able to use.

The vet nurses at my old animal hospital told me they swore by Sudocreme for dog's skin problems and wounds, so yes, I have used it many a time on a very itchy dog who had hot spots. It's antisceptic too, so that should help with healing.

I would look at using some coconut oil - it has natural anti-viral and anti-biotic properties... and of course is very safe to be eaten too

I use Sudocream and my vets also use it a lot for minor skin irritations.

Sorry to interrupt - thanks for this tip! I have some coconut oil and will try some on Loki's paws.
