I have no advice to offer but I am thinking of you at this difficult time. I hope that you manage to sort this out and that your Mum gets the best possible care available to her.

Hugs. xx

I am overwhelmed at the responses you have given, thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart, this means a lot to me.

I will follow the excellent advice given and will pass it on to my Brother & Sister too.

She hasn't improved yet, still not lucid and just sleeping which is good as two days ago she had no sleep at all, at least she is resting.

I am going to work today at 12.00 as it is no good sitting at home.

Many thanks xxx

I can't offer any more advice than you have already been given.
All I can say is I really feel for you, I have, as they say, been there done that, which doesn't really help, but it will all come right in the end.
I wish you well and I will be thinking of you and sending loads of hugs xxxxxxx

Hi Ozzysmom I think what you have to determine here is does your mother need 'nursing care' in a nursing home or 'residential care' in a residential care home, the latter does not require the same level of care or funding from the local Authority.

Although various local authorities differ on the level of care they consider themselves to be liable for, there is a ruling that governs this called ''The Coughlan Judgement'' which set a precedent. .
Here is some information on the judgement (halfway down the page) , you may find more if you do a Google search...
