KYAH (African for beautiful girl) - DOGUE DE BORDEAUX
When this beautiful girl was rescued from her terrible living conditions, she was one of a pair of Dogue de Bordeaux, (we think possibly sisters) left abandoned in a shed .Kyah is the lucky one. Her companion, very underweight and clearly suffering from an extremely painful & debilitating illness, was rushed straight to the vets where she was diagnosed with advanced pyometra and septicemia. The vets did all they could for her, but she sadly died later, which left her sibling alone.
Kyah had a severely infected foot, which had been left untreated. Our vets examined her and, initially the prognosis was not good. It was thought that, if the infection did not respond to a course of strong anti-biotics, she would probably have to lose the leg. (Not a good outcome, given the weight and size of this breed to cope with three legs).
Thankfully, due to the dedication and 24 hour care by Kelly & Shaun,(owners of the kennels), she seems to have made an almost full recovery and we are still monitoring her progress.
Despite all she’s been through Kyah is just a great big softie, and loves her humans. She enjoys lots of cuddles and has a very calm temperament but, typical of this breed, she can be a little stubborn at times. She seems to get on with most other dogs, and could live with another laid back dog who won’t mind being bossed around! She is gentle around children and other family members, but remember - she snores and drools, so not a dog for the faint-hearted or inexperienced! After all Kyah has been through, she’s looking forward to a quiet life with all the love and affection she has recently been deprived of.
