Otto ~ Super People Loving Boy – 4yo Blue Brindle Lurcher

OTTO

Meet the beautiful snugglebug that is Otto. Otto is a greyhound x lurcher boy who was found straying in southern Ireland – in fact he turned up at the doorstep of one of our very own volunteers. This boy sure knows who to ask for help! He has a beautiful minky blue brindle coat and though a bit thin when originally taken in, he is fast putting on weight now. We estimate Otto to be 4-5 years old and is 27” to the shoulder.

Otto is such a beautiful boy, both in side and out. He ADORES people and is by far happiest in your company. He has one of the waggiest tails we’ve met, so much so that he can give you a dead leg if he thumps against you! Unfortunately this also means he will bash it against the walls of his kennel, and so he is currently sporting a bandage at the end to protect it.

Dear Otto has gone from roaming the countryside to being cooped up in a kennel, and he is not happy with this confinement. We hope to get him out of kennels and into a home environment as soon as possible. He truly lives for people and gets so happy when he sees someone coming his way. He is super affectionate, but in a gentle way, and loves getting cuddles. It’s heartbreaking to leave him in his kennel at the end of the day knowing that he wants nothing more than to curl up beside you on the sofa.

Otto is clean in his kennel and has mixed very well with the other dogs he has met. He is definitely more interested in people than dogs, so we feel Otto’s ideal home would be one where he could have human company for the majority of the day. This boy has not yet been in a home environment, but it generally doesn’t take hounds long to settle in and learn the house rules. This boy aims to please so with some gentle guidance he should soon learn the do’s and don’ts of house life.

Like most sighthound types, Otto is a total couch potato and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week. He has been for walks in the fields near his kennels and isn’t fazed by horses or cows. He walks a dream and doesn’t pull – a small child could walk him.

Otto is currently being kennelled in south east Ireland and will be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe when a suitable permanent or foster home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick him up, and if you are in the UK and wish to meet before adopting him, he will be fostered in the Norfolk area.

Otto is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in adopting or short-term fostering Otto, please email me for our adoption application form and information pack. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs. Thanks!
