How about "Really Useful Boxes" from Really Useful Products, available in a variety of different sizes and colours. They are really strong, with a dog proof lid, and are available all over at places like Staples, Makro and so on. They are not expensive.
I use different sizes for in the house or caravan, or for bulk storage in the garage.

I use that one for 15kg sacks - I LOVE it! It keeps the food fresh and so easy to use, plus the wheels to move it around are really useful. I'd highly recommend it!

I keep all the dog food and sacks of pigs ears in the garage so the containers need to be rodent proof. I use galvanised metal bins with metal lids to deter rodents and a bungy strap through the handle of the lids to prevent prying doggy noses. Not pretty but 100% effective.

Do you have a smaller container for serving? or do you get it straight out of the bigger one?

Yes!!! I've got that one too, and it's brill, it even gives a nice "click" to let you know that it's absolutely airtight and that's the thing you have to worry about, the air!

It takes a whole big bag of kibble, and can be wheeled into a little niche in the kitchen instead of being kept somewhere, where the sun could get on it and it gets too hot. I really worry about that now since my Hill's food went "off" out in my bootroom where it can get hot when I leave the doors open!

I can't recommend this highly enough and it's a great price too!

You could always use a beer brewing bin. They cost about £5-10 delivered and hold about 20kilos.

My dad uses them to store donut mix so it is airtight and keeps things fresh. They have a lid that clicks so you know its airtight.

Ones like these...(we are abouot to get one as a nappy pail! sooo multifunctional!)
