Lennon licking Roxy's mouth

Hi guys. Assistance please. Lennon has started excitedly licking Roxy's mouth. Whilst doing so, he cries, yelps, whines, and his tail goes ten to the dozen. The only thing I can think he's trying to do is get her to regurgitate some food for him. He's not hungry, so I'm at a loss. Anyone got any ideas please?

Roxy, being the grumpy old bint she is, is getting a bit fed up with it......

i have just lent out my copy of Whats my dog thinking by Gwen Bailey but i read something in there about this ....I think its just to see if any food is left but i will let you know when i get the book back

Isochick's dog Max does this to Teagan whenever they meet!

Even when they are walking he licks her mouth!

I agree.. Freya does this alot to my old boy Chester, the more he protests the more excited she gets...

Ah - Len does the same when Roxy gets grumpy......

Roxy (my pup) dow this constantly to my sisters GSD. In the book mentioned (Gwen Bailey) It does say something about looking for food.

I have to keep splitting them up becuase Rox really annoys Max and he HATES it, but she doesn't give up, so I have to keep giving her time outs. Dont know when/if they grow out of it though, Roxy has done it for 3 months now

my dogs lick each others mouths either for greeting each other, food or after they have had a bit of a scrap they do it also.

I'm not sure about the yelping and crying though.

Max (Isochicks dog) has been licking Teagans mouth since they first met..and Max is 8 months old now! lol

mine still do it .... its said also to be a sign of grooming which is shared by dogs and said to be a sign of affection

never heard of it being a submissive thing
