Has anyone used doxicycline?

After a real bad tick problem and getting tick desease(we thought we were going to lose her) my girl was prescribed doxicycline. After 9 days on it:
Her back legs are a bit lame, her pads have some discolouring, she has been sick 4 times and today drunk lots of water which probably caused her being sick again.
If you have used it did you notice any such side effects?
Worried sick

Thank you

I think you should go back to your vet straight away....

Doxycycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic used for the treatment of infections such as Lyme disease

What are the possible side effects of doxycycline:
If any of the following serious side effects occur, stop giving doxycycline and seek emergency veterinary medical attention; an allergic reaction (hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat); severe headache, dizziness, or blurred vision; fever; hair loss; ¿bull¿s-eye¿ lesions; vesicles around mouth, ears, and groin; urinating less than normal or not at all; dark colored urine, confusion or weakness; loss of appetite; jaundice. Continue giving doxycycline and talk to your veterinarian if any of these less serious side effects occur; mild nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Side effects other than those listed in this guide may also occur. Talk to your veterinarian about any side effect that is unusual or seems especially bothersome to your pet.

Hi Patch,

sorry to have confused you,
now that we know, garlic really works to keep them off, but we werent fast enough in this new environment and she got bitten and then sick. It takes one bite to be sick if the tick is infected.
Lene, it started about 3 or 4 days into the treatment.
Ziva, thanks for brilliant answer and link!
Off to the vets straight away,
poor baby!
Thanks everyone, will keep you posted,

gee.

The vet said she had a relapse, as she was sick the tablets didnt stay down so... had to start again and shes on the mend! he said to give her polenta to help keep it all down, and she loves it!!
As for the actual treatment, if ever you start it, you must continue it for 30 days or they might get poorly again.

happy again, both of us, thank you all!
