I would also guess at a fatty lump from what you describe. Willow my bitsa (57 variety) has loads of these type of lumps, she has had some removed and they have all been lypoma (sp?) so we have left the others and just keep an eye on size & shape of them as she is 9yrs old and we don't want to have sedate her uneccesarily.

Hope all is well, keep us posted on his progress

It does sound like a fatty lump. Our GSD had a lump which the vet thought was a fatty lump, but it did turn out to be a low grade tumour after they removed it, so it is always best to check to be on the safe side I think.
