Can Somebody Help Me Please (sorry long)

As you all know Milo has many health problems and is under a specialist but things are not looking good.
However the last couple of weeks or so he hasn't been able to jump on the sofa or onto my bed as normal or get up the stairs.
A few times also he has had a lot of difficulty getting up from laying down. I thought perhaps he had pulled a muscle in his back and have kept him resting apart from 2x5min lead walks a day so he can go to the toilet.
I spoke to the specialist on the phone a week ago and he got my vet to give me some antis and Rimadyl.
This morning I took Shady out for a run and when I come back saw Milo laying in his little bed through the window, when I got Shady in and went to get Milo he was standing just inside the door unable to move with his back arched shaking from head to toe, which I expect was in pain.
I carried him to the garden to see if he would go toilet there instead of putting him on a lead and taking him out. But he staggered uncomfortably to the back door and I lifted him inside.
I then put his harness and lead on popped him in the car and took him to the lane where I know he will go to the toilet. Once in the lane he trotted along like any normal healthy dog, I lifted him back into the car and he stood on his back legs looking out of the window as we drove back up our road to home.
Now he is in he has gone straight and laid down in a little ball again.
I spoke to my vet on Friday but he said the Rimadyl was the correct treatment if he had hurt his back but he didn't want to do anything else till he heard from the specialist. Only problem is the specialist is not in till Monday.
Have any of you any ideas what could be wrong. I don't think its connected to all his other health problems, if its his back what could he have done? I don't think Shady has landed on him or jumped on him at all but obviously can't be 100% sure.
I'm so worried as his future looks bleak enough without this and if it is his back injured how can he suddenly trot along so normally on his little walk?
I'm at a loss so hoping some of you more knowledgable Dogsey people can help me.

maybe you could take him to a chiro, I know there is a lady that works on dogs in I think staffordshire, she usually deals with sibes and mals, sort of pre/post rallie season, she is very good at re-aligning dogs.

Unfortunatly Staffs is much to far from me. Do you think it sounds like his back then?
I could ask my specialist tomorrow if he can reccomend anyone nearer to me if poor little Milo can hang out that long.

To be blunt if things arent looking good anyway for this little guy, i would PTS by now,From your explanation it sounds really Bad.

Is he ever going to get better from his other health Problems? if not then its for your benefit to keep him going , not his.

I know its harsh & you will hate me now, but you have to do whats best for the dogs at the end of the day. I would not keep a dog like this.

You can of course ignore this post, & this is the third time iv typed it (deleted it Twice) As im not one for telling People to PTS their animals, but if things are as bad as you say & ypou are not exaggerating, then "I" in your position would pts the dog.

Sorry for the post

The arched back a and shaking is typical of back problems, but it a symptom of other things too. If he has been messed about with, GA, pulled and pushed etc.. I think its very feasible he could of hurt his back.

Ok I have made up my mind, I will try and keep him as comfortable as possible today and then take him to be put to sleep tomorrow at my vets as I don't know if the emergency vets (totally different practice would just put him to sleep) not knowing his history, if I thought they woudl then I would possibly take him this afternoon.
Because when he is out he trots along normally then they may just think I was some awful woman trying to kill her dog.

Oh Bev.....

If there's nothing more you can do for dear Milo, then it is the right decision to make.

I understand your doubts totally, as I had them with Roxy, even after she had gone, but now I know what I did was the right thing at the right time.

I have to say that even before the suspected back problems, I would have PTS, as I believe he has suffered enough.

Just my opinion, and may not be a popular one.

Hugs honey xxxx

i don't have any advice but i just wanted to let you i think you are an amazing mum to milo. you've done all you can to try and help him and if love could cure him he would be fine now. it is the hardest thing to see your animal in pain and not be able to help.

i wish so much there was an answer for him. you both are in my thoughts.

hugs to you.xxx
