Chips are definitely to be partaken with salt and vinegar only, unless purchasing to be eaten at home in which case a dollop or two of the finest tomato ketchup can be added.

My OH, who is from oop norf, asked me to get some gravy from the chip shop once. Well I nearly fell over. Chips and gravy are just wrong!
He also said that where he grew up they also had oven bottom muffins in which to place their chips and gravy making a delectable lunchtime snack.

Do not despair, I am eductaing him in the ways of the world and he now also knows you can get spaghetti that doesn't come of out a tin!

P.S The funniest thing about this thread is that it's hardly on here anytime at all yet has the most hits and replies.... so obviously a popular if controversial subject.

Ok a reply from about as far down souff as you can get!

Cod not Haddock, rock salmon, skate or anything else.
Rolls not barms.
Sausage definately battered.
Always mustard on hot dogs, what other way is there to eat them?
Gravy on chips and pasty and chips, sauce/vinegar on fish.
Cheese and chips, an import from the oop north holiday makers (grockles!! )

On a personal note........ vinegar kills the taste of anything else!

Right as a southerner living oop north

Chips salt, vinegar and if at home ketchup

Vinegar first , then salt.

Nothing else!!!!

Hotdogs with everything on them,, ketchup, mustard, onions and cheese

It is Rolls, not Baps, Barms, Muffins

Chip Butties must be made with fresh bread that you cut in a doorstep with real butter, if you are going to do it, do it properly.

Sausage never battered, though I did love this when a kid, same goes for battered beefburgers

I think that is everything

The only things I have posted on Dogsey today has been Chips
