some poems....

This has never happened to me before, but last night i suddenly got the urge to write my feelings down in poetry! The first poem is about my childhood, and the arrival of my friends 21st birthday on Saturday set me off thinking. Can't believe we are all growing up- it only seems like yesterday we were so innocent and young!

POEM 1

I sit here writing my poem, to tell you all,
O how i dream of the long summer days
Me being "king of the castle"
And you the "dirty rascal"
The fun we used to have
Rolling innocently in the long green grass

We went around on buses and bikes
And played till the sun went in
Splashing in paddling pools
And climbing up trees, sat upon our shed roof
We felt so big and cool

And then the breezy nights would draw us in
and the spuds would be wrapped in tinfoil,
The dads would light the fires
And we'd roast away to our hearts desires
Four in a line, which was made up to five
When little Lucy joined us, her eyes bright and wide.

But all too fast, the teen years arrived,
And the times we sat in childhood awe,
Were quickly gone, and replaced, with not so inncent things

So I sit here, writing my poem,
To tell you all
Loz
Ant
Lucy
and Ben
our childhood fun cannot be forgotten!

The second poem I wrote, i wrote on the bus on my way to work and it was inspired by an odd memory i had in the cole brothers cafe (john lewis) of my nan last summer. Its not about my nan tho

Bottles of pop used to be all but 20p
When i was young, and sat upon your knee.
You were my darling grandad,
And I your darling blue eyed girl

The hours we spent,
Out and about
Me in my buggy
And you in your tweed
Will never be gone

Not so long as I have my memories
Those precious memories,
That place a smile upon my face,
When times are glum, grim and grey

So never forget, you'll always be my darling grandad,
And I, your darling blue eyed girl
