What type of chalk do you use for handstripping?

Hello all you terrier people

I have a bit of a problem with chalk... I do use it but it tends to make Archie smell a bit 'doggy' and I thought it was actually supposed to freshen them up?

Do any of you have this problem, and if you don't, what type of chalk do you use?

Thanks

Tuti I use a chalk block, when you have finished brush out all the chalk with a very soft brush (I have a baby brush for Amy) ..the chalk should not make Archie smelly

yep I use a chalk block too.... have just ordered a different brand so hopefully this one won't make him smell.

I do brush it out, and he doesn't normally smell, but the chalk seems to give him a 'doggy' smell.

If it carries on I suppose I can just brush through a bit of bicarb after handstripping, this should keep any smells under control

If you are using it for grip, try rubber thimbles instead.

are you sure its chalk and not potatoe flour as we can get both and they come in the same looking containers so if you aren't paying attention you can grab the wrong one
