Converting puppys diet to raw feeding, questions

Hiya,

Another question from me, hope im not becoming too much of nuisence!

I am fetching my Northern Inuit, Jess home in just a few days and im wondering how long I should leave it before gradually converting her diet to raw feeding?

I would think that she would become very distressed if everything, including her food, is changed overnight.

After all, im sure the food that she is used to now will be quite comforting to her when she comes to her new home, it will be some kind of normality.

Shall I change her food when she seems to have settled down?
Or when she is a certain number of weeks old?

Hi,
When we brought holly home at 14 weeks (we rescued her but failed at fostering ) i wanted to change her to raw as soon as possible.
She was fed on biscuits when i got her so i brought some of those frozen packets of raw meat. I defrosted these & added it to her biscuits gradually building it up over a couple of weeks untill i could stop what she was previously fed & give her the same as my other 2.
She did have a funny belly the first few days but soon got used to the food & was fine after that. Then i started to add in bones etc starting with chicken wings as they are quite soft & built that up the same way HTH

We bought our 7 1/2 wk old Pointer pup home two weeks ago and I started feeding raw the next day. He's on four meals a day and at the moment has 2 raw meals and 2 kibble with no ill effects on his stomach. I will gradually phase out the kibble as he gets older.

Hi Kye your puppy may get a tummy upset from the change of water /.excitement/ being separated from her siblings and dam, I would feed whatever the breeder has been feeding for the first two weeks to give your puppy chance to settle then gradually introduce the new food over a number of days by substituting a little of the old with the new.

How I feed a puppy....

raw meat, bones and offal is by far the easiest route to go but if for any reason I did not want to feed quite like that then something along the lines of what I have seen Mini has suggested in the past would be something I would follow.
