Yeah raw! just back from 1st vet check

For his pet insurance Ben needs an yearly vet check
So for the 1st time this year I lugged him off to the vet

And what a good boy my barky kid is growing into - lay at my feet and didnt bark once in the waiting room
not so happy on the vet table (it wobbles) but let the vet do all her poking and prodding no problem

the results
Fantastic body condition and well above average teeth
slightly dry coat (which is much softer since the change in food)

She didnt ask what I feed so I didnt tell She also said the flea treatments were doing a great job so I should keep that up - hmm didnt tell her that the max he gets is some skin so soft if he is in the way when I am putting it on me!!

All in all she said my raw fed non flea or worm treated dog is in really great shape!! and she is happy enough not to give his boosters at the moment
(she even admited that most of them last a lifetime except lepto which only lasts about 3 months ) she did say titers are about £180 so I guess I will have to start saving for my own peace of mind

Over all a really good result - when I was dreading lectures

That's excellent Ben McF!!!!!!!

Bryan is booked in for his booster this afternoon. I just can't quite bring myself to not have him done, but I may consider it in the future. Definately can't afford titers right now so don't want to risk it.

But good on you! When we had our home check for fostering the lady from Dog's Trust said that Bryan was in perfect shape. I'll let you know what the vet says (they don't know we feed raw either ).

Cool!!

It's great to hear good results with raw - what raw diet on you feeding?

I've been feeding prey-model raw for 2 years now and did have vet-visit free dogs until I adopted an itchy pup recently, but that's a different story!!

It's good when you collect onlooked-for comments from the veterinary fraternity! When Kali was being looked-at prior to his "little op", the vet congratulated us on his general condition, especially as he is now at the grand old age of 14!

We had a visit the other day from my on-line friend who's a retired vet (She's up here on holiday); she was also very complimentary on the condition of both TZBCs (shiny, and silky to touch).

Snorri

P.S.- the TZBCs eat raw beef mince and kibble.

Me too!! When I went to the vet about the itchies he wanted to do boosters, and the puppy's rabies and I said not until everything else was back to normal as I didn't want their bodies fighting too many things at once, and he said it wouldn't make any difference!

LOL
