Captain ~ Affectionate Boy Full of Fun – 3yo Black Greyhound

CAPTAIN

Captain is a 3 year old ex-racing greyhound boy who is now retired and waiting to begin his ‘family pet’ career. He has a lovely, affectionate face and a soft black coat that is going to be just gorgeous once he gets a bit more sheen to it.

Captain is a truly lovely dog and a real pet. He is lively and full of fun, but not overly hyper or unmannered. He adores being around people and likes to follow you around. He lives for one-on-one time with his people and will stroke you with his paw if you forget to pet him!

Captain gets on well with the other dogs in our kennels and is generally an easy going boy who is content to go with the flow and do what you’re doing. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs or cats, but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required.

Dear Captain has spent all his life so far in kennels, so new owners will need to be a bit patient at the start and give him time to settle in to the new environment. It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience. We know Captain is going to just adore all the attention and fuss of a loving forever home.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

Captain is currently being kennelled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick him up. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Captain, please email me for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!
