Spaying

What's the typical sort of price for spaying these days?

depends very much on the size of the bitch and the area that you live in. Also whether the prices are 'all inclusive' or whether they have hidden extras (pain relief, post operative check ups etc).

Ours range from £175 - £235 all in.

Def depends on the vets/area you live in! (and of course the size of the bitch)

Just trying to get a rough idea of the costs involved. Border Terrier. She's only 18 weeks at the moment and she will have a season before she's spayed.

I was quoted just over £200 for my medium size breed. Make sure before you leave her that she isn't having a phantom, I had to go and collect Kia so she still hasn't been spayed!

Just phoned the vets. £166 for a dog no more than 20 kilos, less for a dog no more than 12 kilos (all in). This is based on spaying after first season. Spaying at 6 months pre-first season is costed at £145 for a dog no more than 20 kilos. Apparently, the reason is that it's a bit more complicated an op if they've had a season.

Seems quite reasonable

Kestrals spay was £160 for a dog under 10kg, although I get 20% off so got it for £130.
The price you were quoted seems pretty reasonable.. I always think my vet is a bit on the pricey side but I like them and get discount.

Which does explain why vets push for pre season spays easier for them-nowt to do with the benefit to the bitch

At our vet (who is ex RSPCA), Gavin told me that under 15kg (Mindy is 12), it would be £85.00 + £10.00 for pain relief. I thought that was a brilliant price.

Daisy (34k) was £90 as a special offer 3 years ago. Be £120 now probably. This was at a vets all the Rescues use. So it`s worth ringing round.
