hip score testing

Hi everyone,

Sorry been away far to long, In the last 4 months I've changed jobs, moved house, and only now have I got broadband connection back.

The new design of dogweb is great!!!!

has anybody had their dog hip scored and how much did it cost?

We're planning on getting Lola hip scored later in the year and our vet quoted us just under £600, being in London I know our vet is expensive but is this the norm?

OMG!! that sounds an awful lot indeed, mine haven't been done yet but I've just had my quote done & it was £150 & that was for a 30kg dog (Northern Inuit)

I'm from Greater Manchester, I can understand London being a bit more expencive but that just seems well over the top to me.

Hip Scores (reading/marking the x-rays) for 1 dog costs £30.60, anything over that is your vets charge for the x-rays/anasthetic etc.

Scroll down to Schedule 1: (It's a PDF file)

Hi Tawneywolf I go to Armac Veterinary Clinic near Bury town centre. My exact costs were quoted as follows if this helps:

x-ray (on CD) £3.64
actual x-ray £41.14
Anaestetic for 20-30kg dog £96.19 (more if over 30kg)

Totaling £140.97

I don't think that includes BVA scoring though as my plates are being sent to the NI society so they can send of a bulk load together so if that apparently costs £30.60 that should total £171.57.

My dogs have also been tested for CEA & PRA at the specialists in Preston & that cost just under £60 for the 2 dogs together (so about £30 each)
