I'm Having A Poo Problem!

Can anyone help!!!

Misty had pups 3 weeks ago and ever since she has taken to pooing and weeing on the carpets at the front and back door.

She knows how to ask to go out and is out all the time, but she will come in and poo in the house! :smt009

I don't want her leaving her scent on the carpets for the pups to pick up on and copy mum!

Any suggestions - she didn't do this before she became a mummy!

Oh my what gorgeous pups!!

Why dont you try going back to basics with her? normally when a adult results in messing in the house, an option is to treat her like a pup and go back to basics!

Someone might have some better advice!

Could be she does not want to go outside away from the pups. Would take to taking her outside every 3 hours and staying with her till she performs. Also try to be aware of what she is doing as you would with a puppy, and try to realise she needs to go out.

Hi Snippets Lovely puppies, don't forget when a bitch has puppies (as with us umans too ) everthing gets stretched and it can be harder to 'wait to go' until the muscle tone returns. Would advise many short frequent trips outside for Misty and lots of praise when she performs (just like a puppy). As the puppies get older she should be less anxious to leave and things should improve. I wouldn't want to leave those puppies alone if they were my babies would you ?

Thanks for input!

She's always very good, she'll go up on her back legs and dance about, that way she's telling us she needs out.

She is still doing this, but I would have to agree that she is not staying out very long - possibly not wanting to be away from her babies. (Dont blame her!!) :smt049

I'm trying not to turn a blind eye because I don't want her making a habit of it - especially when I'm keeping two of her wee girls..... :smt041

Fingers crossed it's only a phase....unless anyone else has any suggestions?

i agree with Thordell............. I would take her in the garden and close the back door until she goes....sounds like she dosen't want to be away from the pups.......

when you and her are in the garden ..keep talking to her to reasure her is ok then huge praise when she has been ....she's just forgotten as all she has on her mind is quick pee get back to babies

Try taking her on a short 5 minute walk, it sounds like she doesn't want to leave her babies. Another couple of weeks and she'll be wanting to go out and not come in
