KC, Is This The End??

Increasing critisism of the appalling level of hereditory disorder health of KC registered dogs, compared to their Euro counterparts (compulsory health testing), has been gaining momentum over this past couple of years.

For the first time in its history KC has been so shamed by it's commercial interest in maintaining its puppy farm breeding standards the the director Ronnie Irving has issued a statement to try to pre-empt and exposure in a damage limitation exercise, the first time ever the director of KC has made public a denial statement before the Horizon expozure of the cruel practice of breeding hereitory disoreders into KC registered breeding stock, within 5-10 years KC will be just memory of 'the bad old days' for KC registered dogs and their maimed & crippled offspring and KC will be no more than a memory for some owners.

Do you know when the programme will be shown?

Sorry I dont, I guess Autumn sometime,I think its the Horizon programm and thats a very infuencial programm and usually gets other media following many of its themes.

The programme was made by Passionate Productions, a company that do produce for the Horizon series but unfortunately this particular one doesn't seem to come under that umbrella. A shame really as I think Horizon is synonymous with scientific fact..... but we'll have to wait and see how this is presented.

If this helps the quality of breeding dogs in the UK its got to be a good thing, must remember to tune it to that one

Depends wether it a true representation or just a witch hunt against the KC.
I'm the first to admit there not perfect but cant see a way to guarantee a pedigree without them, at least they wont register more than1 litter a year from the same bitch and wont register til shes at leastt 12 months.
Without the KC how would you know, it would be giving PF's a license to print money.

It has been compulsory for many, many decades by all european breed registration clubs (KC) that the parents of all litters born to any working breed (eg dachshunds) in europe must be tested for hereditory diseases for that particular breed, all medium sized dogs regardless of breed are compulsory tested for HD, only non dysplastic dogs get a fit for breeding licence granted from the clubs, dysplastic cannot breed and get a registered pedigree, all (every single one) GSDs born in Germany for decades have been tested before they can get a licence.

You can translate the German GSD breed registration club through one of the online translaters (babel)and find details of the compulsory fit breeding tests.

Cant see the point in testing for things that the breeds dont have. We hip score because Welshies have a history of dysplacia.
