Comforted me................

These two poems were sent to me when my dad died. Thought they might comfort others......................

Mahkah Native Indian Prayer

Do not stand at my grave and weep -
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autums rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flighth,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
So do not stand at my garve and cry,
I am not ther; I did not die.

And last but not least.......

As long as I can I will look at this world for both of us. As long as I can I will laugh with the birds, I will sing with the flowers, I will pray to the stars, for both of us. As long as I can remember how many things on this earth were your joy. And I will live as well as you would want me to live. As long as I can.

My daughter read the first one "Autumn Rain" at her nans funeral - there wasn't a dry eye in there. Her dad read this and it was very, very touching:

I’m Free

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now; He set me free.

C x

Normally I never come into this section as I never know what to say to people.

I'm glad I did tonight as they are all lovely poems
