Dogs in labour

my lil chihuahua is pregnant and she only has a couple of days left she looks confused and is shaking like she is cold is this a sign of labour ?

Should you not know the signs of labour inside out and upside down if you are breeding your dog?

Yes its a sign..Get your vet on standby...I hope you will be able to see when there is a problem, if you dont know good signs, i doubt you know the bad ones

I thought that chihuahua's could not give birth my themselves and it had to be by caesarian (sp)....unless i am mis-informed. I would take her to see your vet asap.

Chihuahuas are a breed that often need c-sections, but some manage just fine, Until a problem arises and the girl is struggling i would not take to the vets, just have one on standby.
But then again, this is the members first litter and they dont seem to be knowlegable enough to be whelping a litter..*runs and hides*

i do already have a vet on standby but she said wait untill u see her pushing and if nothing happens within a hour then get in touch, and yes i do know the in and outs of dog labour as i used to breed yorkies but my chi is a lot different, i never heard of the shaking before thats why i asked u guys im hoping that she does ok x

Shaking is a very common sign, Glad vet is on standby.

i really hope she is ok its her first litter and i think im more scared than her , i only bred her cos she has a fantastic temp and a couple of friends want one of her babies and i want to keep one aswell x x x

just to let u guys know my dog cookie delivered 6 healthy pups this morning all by herself thanks for the advice guys x
