Hedgehog population??

Is it declining?!

Only seen about 2 this year, and used to see LOADS and LOADS!

I can't even recall the last time I saw one at all and I'm out most nights walking the dog. On the plus side, we have foxes visiting us regularly, and despite the 'orrible noise they can make, it's great seeing them!

With around 5000 being killed on the roads each year I reckon it must be - hedgehogs are a species in trouble, not yet endangered but I doubt it will be long before they are.

there is lots beign done.

massive surveys to establish viable data on their population sizes and movements.

dedicated hedgehog road corssings

education and research

etc

As Ceiron said there is, but you kind of have to know where to look. I have taken part in a hedgehog watch survey, I will have a look a bit later for you and find it if I can.
