Any therapies to help heal op site scar?

2 months ago Toffee had a major op to remove a sarcoma
from her back leg (knee). This involved taking out a fair
bit of tissue around it & having to stretch the skin a bit to close up. It was a successful op, cancer gone & wound
healed, but she still licks at the area quite alot & doesnt
like us to touch it. I know it hasnt been long and it's
remarkable how well its healed but I wondered if there
was any therapies that would help speed up the healing
or soften the scar tissue or something, to make it less
painful. I've seen websites for animal physio but there
doesnt seem to be anything "approved" or "recognised"
Has anyone heard of or used anything helpful?

I use Bio oil on my op. scars, and it does help. It is very gentle, and is recommended for scarring. I can't see any reason not to use it on a dog.

Thanks, the Dermoscent balm could be worth trying, it may
help her skin but I cant massage the scar it's too tender
underneath. Has anyone tried ultrasound therapy?

Hello Kitty personally I wouldn't put anything on the scar, doing so may encourage more licking and excess licking can lead to the skin breaking down and 'hot spots'

The best person to discuss this with is your vet.

Cocoa butter cream. Works wonders and non-toxic.
