where can i find puppy classes/puppy partys?

hiya, i want my pup to meet more pups, his 5 months and loves meeting other dogs, but lately there are no dogs walking when we are!!

i dont want to take him to clases where they teach us sit/etc as ive done that all myself, jsut a class where he can play and socialise with other pups for like 30mins/hour.

i heard of puppy partys on crufts today to, are thay any good?

does anyone have any websites for essex for puppy classes/partys as i cant find any, and its dirving me nutty!

Some veterinary practices run "puppy parties" for early socialisation. So try asking your vet practice. Happy socilialising

Archie may well be too old now for the puppy parties run by most vets. In my experience many have a cut off point of 20 weeks.

Perhaps you could put up an ad in your local vets though to see if anyone has a similar aged pup that might like to walk with you/meet up for puppy play.

have no idea ,but we took dylan to one its lovely like puppy school (just need one in your area ) we made friends with people in our class and still walk with them in the summer its lovely

It's not always a good idea to let lots of different pups play together, purely because some pups may be far more boisterous than others and so some pups can learn to be defensive or to dislike other dogs early in life.

They can also learn that other dogs are far more fun than owners, so bog off to play with other dogs when off lead on walks!

Best puppy classes or parties mix light training with off lead play which is supervised well. So for example pups do learn to come back to owners, that coming back does not mean the end of play, and that other dogs are fun but they can't always race to play with them (good for real life as not every dog is playful ). It's extra benefit if they also have a calm adult dog to occasionally educate cheeky pups, and to play with them too.

Hope you don't mind me commenting, but I can understand you do want your pup to play with pals and to meet other dogs! That's important too!

I'm not sure there is anywhere that could give you what you want, there is www.puppyschool.co.uk but I'm pretty sure they would not allow your pup in as he's too old for them.

Try here, www.apdt.co.uk for trainers near you and just see what is available, even if you do have to go to a more training type class, it will be really good for your pup to learn to do obedience type things around other dogs, and maybe they will allow off lead play at some stage; also you may meet other dog owners who will want to socialise and go for dog walks so all the dogs can play and quite a few trainers now offer social walks.
