Stiff back legs after castration, is this normal?

Is it normal for a male dog to have stiff back legs after castration?

Max (rotti x collie) was castrated last wednesday and today around 2pm his back legs seem to be stiff when walking.
By stiff i mean his legs only seem to move at the hip joint.

I have never experienced of the after care for a dog castrated so all your advice would be a real big help.

Hope he feels better soon, when i had kai done i don't remember him having any problems at all after a couple of days of feeling a bit sorry for himself. Might just be the stitches tightening, i think he walked alittle funny for a bit.

bless, just keep an eye on him. Hope he is back to his old self soon.

I think as long as its not red or angry looking, naturally stitches tighten abit when the skin around heels and can make it a bit itchy and tight feeling so its probably something like that, just bothering him. Hope he's fine soon.

Got my fingers crossed that it is just that and nothing any more serious.

It could well be that there is some internal swelling and bruising which although it's going down is making him walk a bit John Wayne ish.

The stiches could also be about due to come out so even if not red and sore may be pulling a bit on the skin making it uncomfortable.

Assume he's got his post op check/stitch removal in the next day or so and that the vets can reassure you it's nothing serious

Think he may well be sore and walking is hurting him, as KateM says there will be internal damage that will need to heal so time should improve the way he feels. But none of us can see the dog and if you are worried the vets oppinion should be sought.

Thank you for the replies, called in to the vets this morning and asked for advice and more or less have said the same as Katem.
He did go for his post op check on friday.
He seems to walking alittle better after some perscribed pain killers.
The stitches are due to come out next saturday.
But once again thank you all for your help.
