They send the forms to me as the registration is now registered in my name, (we did it over the phone), and then I just send it off with the logbook and as soon as I've got it back I can change the number plates...which Clive has ordered from his friend who makes them. I would imagine it will be a couple of weeks tops.

I have to check about the tax disc etc as I'm not sure what happens there, the girl at the DVLA said I send everything off to the local office so I imagine they send me a duplicate disc with the new reg on it and I return the old one upon receipt...I'm not sure what happens about the MOT though, I shall have to find out about that.

The DVLA are quite strict, albeit nice, when you talk to them, you have to assure them that you aren't going to fiddle with the plates with regards to the spacing etc., and they want to know why you are buying the plate. Fortunately I won't have to jiggle the spacing around so it will read ok and still be legal

When I did mine, I had to physically take the documentation with my log book and tax disc to the local office. It's not local as it's in Chelmsford but anyway, it is simple and straight forward to do. They issue a new tax disc and log book. It can take a few hours of waiting for your number to be called etc. When I did the first one they actually got one of the inspectors to come down and check the car out in the carpark to make sure it was all ok, as I was putting a t reg on a t reg car that had previously had a p reg private plate on. They were very helpful though.

Thank you...I keep looking at different fonts so I get the x's just right to look like kisses, but Clive is rolling his eyes at me and telling me I'm only allowed to have legal plates
