Help with fruit jelly !!

I'm making a fruit jelly for the kids, but I remember reading somewhere that a certain fruit (banana or pineapple etc) in tinned fruit, stops the jelly from setting !

Does anyone know what it is, so I can pick it out ?

Also how do I prevent the fruit pieces from all sinking to the bottom ?

Thanks (from the crappest cook on the planet )

The fruit will sink, and i seem to remember having banana in my jelly.....will go hunting...

Just read to allow it to partially set before adding fruit to stop it from sinking!!

It's pineapple that stops it setting.
Kiwi fruit too I believe.
When I made the 200 trifles for our pary last year the packs of jelly all stated to avoid pineapple as it prevents the jelly setting.
However, if it's fruit cocktail, there is generally very little pineapple in it. Mine had pineapple and it still set fine, but then it was part of little trifles so not much jelly in each one.

.... and if you want to stop the fruit sinking, just use mandarin oranges as they float
