Canada

As of last week OH and I decided (well I did ) that I want to go Canada for this years holiday. Probably for a week, so can anyone recommend any places in Canada ? I've been given a few recommendations about what to do, ie take a train from the east to the west. See Niagra Falls, the Rocky's etc. Can anyone recommend a good place to go/stay/do ? I've been told British Columbia is a lovely place but not sure what else is there !

If you've ever been or have any tales on where to go or where NOT to go then I'd love to hear about them

A friend of mine went to the West side, around Ontario for 3 weeks. I think you need 3 weeks by the sounds of it, and she had an absolutely fab time and would definitely do it again. She said it was just like being in the UK but nicer, whatever that means! Everything was perfect she said. The eastern side is very French in the Quebec area, and my step sister lived there for 3 years and loved it too. The choice is yours I suppose! Either way it's a great place to go. I nearly emigrated there when I as 20, but got engaged instead and he didn't want to go! Although I dumped him a year later, I think I missed a very big opportunity there, I should have gone!

I did a 2 centre holiday to Toronto & Niagara and can recommend that. But had I had more time I would of loved to explore more, maybe even of hired a motorhome and travelled to the west coast as well.
You wont be disappointed its a beautiful country & have the nicest people Ive ever met.

There's a site called Trip Advisor where people put up comments on good/bad hotels etc. on their recent trips? Try it, you might find something useful, it's very informative for travelling.

I think Helen & I want to come too. I used to be a travel agent & to me the best priced company for Canada holidays were 'Globespan'.

We went to Canada a few years ago. We did a week in Toronto and a week in Montreal. Whilst in Toronto we did a trip to the Falls which was oustanding and highly recommended - enjoy your visit!

HI

This is my specialist subject - If you can stretch to 10-14 days then I would highly recommend British Columbia. You dont really have enough time to fit in an east to west train - its not reallyu worth iot for that amount of time.

My suggestion would be :
Fly to Calgary - take a few nights touring Banff, Lake Louise and then Jasper - from Jasper board the Rocky MOuntaineer to Vancouver ( 2 day/overnight train through the rockies)
and then at least 3 nights Vancouver with some time in Vancouver island too.

If you just have 7 nights - either 4 nights Vancouver and 3 in Victoria ( Vancouver Island). Or stick to yhe east coast and do Toronto / Niagara or Toronto & MOntreal ( with train or flight between).

To be honest I adore BC and think its the better side ( west Coast) and there is loads to do - however it will also depend on the time of year that you go - as if its winter then the west coast will be more restriced.

If you want to ask any questions then Pm me as I love Canada and used to work for a canadian tour op (Globespan) so know my way around pretty well.

I would say Niagara Falls. It is just gorgeous there. Toronto is great too, but there's nothing like the Falls, just beautiful.

It was Vancouver my friend went to, but also Ontario. Vancouver was the place she adored most and said she would live there!!

I do agree, you need more than a week to somewhere like that! Try and get some more time off work for this trip!
