Cheeky puppy

Hi
We have a 3/4 month old crossbreed puppy, Rescue not sure of exact age.

He has food aggression - we are hand feeding to try to resolve this

If told off he barks and growls - not sure how to handle this one. Up to now we have ignored this and distracted however he seens to be getting louder in telling us off

Any advice welcome

When he does the barking and growling turn away from him and ignore him. Only reward the behaviour you want.
As he is a rescue were you told about the food aggression before you adopted him or is that something you have found out. Most reputable rescues have a behaviourist and perhaps you should get in contact with the rescue and see if their behaviourist can give you a structured programme to follow

No we didnt know about the food aggression

We have been turning away and ignoring but he jumps up at our backs and nips our clothing, not hard or anything. Essentially he is a good puppy. We just want to go about helping him through this the right way

Thats not good at all. Are there any training clubs near to you, a decent one can help sort this out and help you work through this. It is all solvable, have you any idea of his previous history

We have been doing clicker training five minutes a day as he is so young. He responds quite well and we use part of his kibble ration as treats/rewards. He was quite snappy at first when taking from us however that is mostly sorted. . There are no training clubs that we know of, how would we find out?

Hm sounds like to much protein for want of a description. What food are you feeding him?

I'd certainly be doing more than 5 minutes a day training, more like 5 minutes 4 or 5 times a day as they are like sponges at that age, they just soak it up.
How does he display food aggression? Do you make him sit calmly before giving his food? I guess you're feeding dry if hand feeding, you can scatter it on the floor a bit at a time and make him work for it. I feed raw so once they sit calmly I just leave them to eat.
